Whether you’re making video presentations for your students, congregation, or patrons, or you’re working on becoming the next TikTok or YouTube sensation, having your video puppetry skills dialed up to perfection will help you connect with your audience and keep them engaged! It’s a great introductory class to get the technical basics down!
WHAT: In this 2-hour workshop, we'll briefly talk about what equipment you need to get started & then we'll put you to work, practicing a foundation of skills you'll need to improve your puppetry for cameras. You’ll be coached through eye-focus, lip sync, proper stance, and connecting with your audiences at home.
This is a great workshop for anyone at the beginner level who wants to brush up on skills before joining our intermediate puppetry classes. Participants will get to work on their video puppeteering skills, ask questions, learn about necessary equipment, learn how to perform without hurting yourself, get feedback on your performance, and have just a stinkin’ good time.
NOTE: We’ll be focusing on the basics of video puppetry, however we will meet you where you are and each individual will receive coaching to improve their skills, no matter where you’re starting from!

BRING TO THE WORKSHOP:
- A moving-mouth puppet with fixed (not wiggly) eyes looking straight ahead
- If possible, your camera/laptop/computer should be raised up very high (not tilted up), so you can puppeteer comfortably while remaining hidden and still viewing the zoom screen.
ABOOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Stacey Gordon has been puppeteering with moving-mouth puppets since she was 14-years-old and has been trying to improve upon her skills ever since. She's been trained by some of the best in the business, and has been working on sets since 2016. She loves helping others unlock what it is about puppetry that makes it so magical.
EXTRA/TECH DETAILS: One purchase is required for each person in attendance, even if you’re sharing the same screen. Note that we do not suggest sharing a screen for this particular workshop.
You do NOT need to be in the Phoenix area for this workshop, however you DO need a computer/device with a camera and microphone so your instructor can see and hear what you’re doing. You’ll also need to update your zoom application and a stable internet connection. Headphones are also a good idea (i.e. please use headphones).
You will need to be on a computer for this zoom workshop. Tablets and phones will not work.
